Drilcos rock bits are classified based on the first two digits of the IADC bit classification. The initial letter of the Drilcos rock bit is designated as bit type.

The number following the initial letter refers to the bearing classification. Suffixes after the letter are used for features of the bearing and the last two numbers refer to the formation and type.
